These Terms of Service govern your use of www.tadpoletales.com and the services provided by Tadpole Tales LLC (“Tadpole Tales,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By using our site or placing an order, you agree to these terms.

What we offer

Tadpole Tales is a subscription service that creates a personalized, printed hardcover storybook each month based on a memory you share with us. You can also purchase a single book without a subscription. We use the information you provide — your memory, the people involved, and optional reference photos — to write and illustrate a custom story.

How your book is made

Tadpole Tales uses AI to write and illustrate your book based on the details you provide. AI-generated content is creative by nature — characters may not look exactly like reference photos, scenes may be interpreted differently than you imagined, and small imperfections are part of the process. We review every book before it reaches the approval stage, but these are handcrafted stories, not photographs, and results will vary.

Before your book goes to print, you’ll have the opportunity to review the finished pages and either approve the book or request changes. Approving your book is your confirmation that it meets and exceeds your expectations and your authorization for us to print and ship it. Once you approve, we are unable to offer refunds for creative decisions — the story, illustration style, or how characters were depicted. If you have concerns before approving, please contact us and we’ll work with you to address them.

Your subscription

Monthly subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current rate until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We don’t offer refunds for partial subscription months. If your payment fails, we’ll try again and notify you by email — if it remains unpaid, your subscription may be paused or canceled.

Your content

You own the memories, photos, and descriptions you share with us. By submitting them, you grant us a limited license to use them solely for creating your book. We don’t use your family’s photos or stories for marketing, advertising, or to train AI models.

Our content

The books we create are custom works made for you. Once you’ve paid for a book, you own that physical copy and may keep, gift, or display it freely. The underlying illustrations, writing style, and platform are ours — please don’t reproduce or resell them commercially.

Refunds and reprints

If your book arrives damaged or we made a production error, contact us within 14 days of delivery and we’ll reprint it at no charge. For creative concerns, please raise them during the approval stage before authorizing print — once a book is approved and printed, we cannot issue refunds for creative decisions. If you’re unhappy for any other reason, reach out and we’ll do our best to make it right.

Acceptable use

Please don’t use Tadpole Tales to submit content that is illegal, harassing, defamatory, or that infringes someone else’s rights. We reserve the right to decline or cancel orders that violate these terms.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of Tadpole Tales is limited to the amount you paid for the affected order. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. When we do, we’ll revise the date at the top and, for material changes, notify you by email or with a notice on the site. Continuing to use Tadpole Tales after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
