About us
Why “Tadpole Tales”?
Because every kid starts small, it doesn't last long, and a story is how a family keeps it.
A tadpole is a beginning.
A tadpole is the little stage before everything changes. All head and wiggle, and then one day, legs. Blink and it's a frog.
Little kids are like that. The way they say “pasghetti.” The garbage-truck phase. The way they still reach up to be carried. It changes fast, and most of it never gets written down.
A tale is how you keep it.
Kids don't remember being three. What they have later is whatever someone kept: the photo on the fridge, the story that gets told every Thanksgiving, the book on their shelf with their name in it.
We wanted to make that last one easy. You bring the story, we turn it into a real hardcover, and it goes on the shelf where they can find it again at seven, and at seventeen.
Real memories, and made-up ones.
Some of our books are about the day they caught their first fish. Some are about the day they rode a dragon to school. Both belong to the same small kid at the same small age, and both are worth keeping.
That's what “Your story. Their book.” means. The plot comes from you, your family are the characters, and your kid gets a book that is only about them.
From the founder
Kevin, Tadpole Tales Founder
I'm Kevin, the founder of Tadpole Tales and a parent of two boys.
I started Tadpole Tales because I wanted to build something that would bring me closer to my kids, and because I can't go long without building something. Turning our family's stories into books we read together turned out to scratch both itches.
When I'm not working on Tadpole Tales, you'll find me on a trail, on my bike, halfway through a DIY project around the house, or hanging out with my wife and our two boys.
